Commercial Van Insurance Covers

Whether you own a van that you use for commercial purposes or personal purposes, it is imperative to get a Van insurance policy for it. For those who use their vans for their business, getting insurance is even more important because their business depends a lot on their vehicle and the insurance gives them a sense of safety and security. As an added benefit, many companies also provide insurance for the contents of the van in the event of their being damaged or misplaced.

The type of insurance that you get would depend upon the size, model and value of your van, among many other things. It also depends on the range of damages and losses that you want to be covered by your policy. The most common types of vans for which companies offer insurance are Transit Vans, Courier Vans and Escort Vans.

There are three types of Commercial Van Insurances, varying with respect to the coverage for different kinds of Damages and losses. These three types are: Fully Comprehensive Insurance, Third Party fire and theft Insurance and Third Party Commercial Van Insurance.

The Fully Comprehensive Insurance Cover is the one which costs more than the other two because it is a full policy, and covers all types of risks that your van may encounter. The most noticeable things it covers are: the liability for death or injury to the people who are in the van, damages to the property of the other party, damages to your van in case of accidents, theft, vandalism, fire or burglary. The comprehensive cover of most of the companies also provides a Replacement van, and liability for personal possessions and other tools in the van. Legal and Medical expenses are also covered up to a specific amount, which varies with different companies. This cover is most suitable for Transit Vans as it provides safety for the vehicle, passengers and also the contents.

In the Third Party theft and Fire Insurance there is coverage for damages and losses caused by vandalism, accidents, fire, theft and explosions. Other than that it also provides coverage for the damages caused to third parties by your vehicle. Though this insurance gives complete coverage for the losses to the third party, the coverage criteria for your vehicle and driver depends on the cause of the damage. In this insurance, you would not be compensated for any damages if your van runs into a vehicle whose driver is not insured.

The Third Party Insurance provides cover only for damages to the third party. This is the least costly and most basic of all the insurances. This cover is ideal for van owners who think that the value of their van is not high enough for it to be insured. So this insurance saves money and also fulfils your minimum legal requirement of having an insurance policy for your commercial van.

Other than these covers, the optional covers like Replacement Van, Foreign Use and Increased Personal damage and increased third party theft are also available. You can use these covers with your basic cover by paying their additional cost.
